De Sint Gerlachuskerk is een parochiekerk gewijd aan de heilige Gerlachus van Houthem en wordt omgeven door Chateau Sint Gerlach, de voormalige proosdij en voormalige kloostergebouwen. Op de plek waar ooit de Heilige Gerlach van Houthem-Sint Gerlach woonde, werd kort na zijn dood een Norbertinessenklooster, een adellijk vrouwenstift, gesticht.
Na de dood van Sint Gerlach zouden er wonderen gebeuren bij zijn graf, waardoor mensen de grond van het graf begonnen mee te nemen. Volgens hun had dit een heilzame werking. Tegenwoordig is het gewijde zand beschikbaar voor gelovigen onder de tombe van Sint Gerlach in de Gerlachuskerk. De kerk bezit unieke frescoschilderingen en een schatkamer.
