Waar de route een lichte bocht maakt, doemt heel dichtbij, de plompe verschijning van de IJsselcentrale, ook wel Centrale Harculo genoemd, op. Vroeger stond de centrale in de stad, maar het is na de Tweede Wereldoorlog hier naartoe verplaatst. De Ijsselcentrale voorziet Zwolle en omgeving al sinds 1914 van stroom. De centrale had oorspronkelijk vijf schoorstenen. In 2005 is de centrale opgeknapt, zodat hij voorlopig mee kan gaan.
