Het is zeker de moeite waard om het dorp Giethoorn met zijn karakteristieke boogbruggetjes en rietgedekte boerderijen te bezoeken. Hiervoor volgt u de Ds. T.O. Hylkemaweg langs het water. Giethoorn wordt ook wel het 'Groene Venetië' genoemd. Het dorp werd in de 13e eeuw gesticht door monniken uit het Middelandse Zeegebied. Giethoorn heeft veel te bieden: variërend van een mineralen- en fossielenmuseum tot een museumboerderij, schelpengalerie en een aantal traditionele punterwerven.
