Halverwege de negentiende eeuw werd hier in de buurt hard aangepoot door boeren en
houtvesters. Men wilde de woeste duingrond temmen. De boeren gingen er wonen omdat ze
hun aardappelen en rogge wilden bewaken. Ze bouwden een meststal om de arme
zanderige grond van voedingsstoffen te voorzien. Dat hielp niet. Het pionierswerk was van
korte duur. Nu vind je hier horeca.
