De Afsluitdijk is een waterkering in Nederland tussen de provincies Noord-Holland en Friesland die het IJsselmeer afsluit van de Waddenzee. Hieraan ontleent de dam zijn naam. De hele dam is 32,5 km lang, het waterkerende deel ervan 30 km. De Afsluitdijk is belangrijk om een deel van Nederland tegen overstromingen te beschermen.
