We trekken ditmaal naar de omgeving van de Abdij van de Achelse Kluis in Hamont-Achel en naar het Nederlandse dorpje Gastel. De mooiste periode om deze wandeling te maken is wanneer de heide in bloei staat (juli/augustus/september?). Wij wandelden deze tocht op 2 september 2017.Het is een wandeltocht doorheen bossen en de heidegebieden.
De wandeling is zo’n 13,5 kilometer lang. Onderweg kan je pauzeren op een van de vele (picknick)bankjes. Er is horeca voorzien na zo’n 7,7 kilometer, maar bij zeer slechte weersomstandigheden kan het zijn dat de horecagelegenheden onderweg gesloten zijn.

Het is een vlakke tocht, maar onderweg zijn er verschillende zeer zanderige paden met losse zand.

De wandeltocht start aan de parking van de Abdij van de Achelse Kluis, De Kluis 1, 3930 Hamont-Achel.
