Un nen d' uns 14 anys va ser rescatat del mar en aquest lloc el febrer de 2008 , però quan els serveis mèdics van arribar al lloc van comprovar que havia mort, possiblement ofegat.
Els fets van passar poc després de les 14.00 hores, quan es van rebre notícies que un nedador havia tret una persona inconscient del mar. La víctima estava en aturada cardíaca i les maniobres de reanimació no van tenir èxit.
Al lloc commemoratiu hi ha objectes que s'han arrossegat del mar , així com una estàtua de la Mare de Déu i flors, col·locades al voltant d'unes pedres de lava apilades.
