L'any 1614 els Alexians es van instal·lar a l'antic almoina de la Santíssima Trinitat.
Aletaven els malalts i els bojos. A principis del segle XVIII van construir un nou monestir amb capella i pati: el monestir de cellebroeder.
L'any 1755 els germans van haver de cedir part dels seus terrenys per a la construcció de l'actual caserna de Dossin . El 1798 hi va haver dificultats amb els ocupants francesos; el convent fou venut i recomprat l'any 1801 pels frares. Tanmateix , gran part del mobiliari de l' església havia desaparegut . A partir de 1908 esdevingué convent de les Germanes Franciscanes.
Entre 1997-2005, Emmaüs vzw va fer restaurar el conjunt. L'ala occidental del convent s'utilitza actualment com a centre juvenil i comunitari.
El conjunt actual de quatre ales del claustre s'articula al voltant d'un pati rectangular amb la capella i la sagristia al sud-est.
