El Pic de la Mainera és una muntanya de 2.909,3 m. d'altitud al límit sud-est del Parc Nacional d'Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici. Al seu cim conflueixen els termes municipals de la Torre de Cabdella, al Pallars Jussà, i d'Espot i Sort , al Pallars Sobirà.
El Mainera està situat als Pirineus axials, a la capçalera de la vall glacial de Peguera ; a la part oriental dels Estanys de Cabdella, i a ponent del Clot i estanys de la Mainera, a la Vall d'Àssua, a Llessui. És el nus de tres arestes: la del nord-oest baixa a la collada de Saburó i l'uneix al tuc de Saburó, la del sud s'ajunta amb la pala Pedregosa de Llessui passant pel coll sud de la Mainera, i al nord-est la cresta de la Mainera l'enllaça amb la cresta de l'Avió i amb el Muntanyó.
