És una de les portes més antigues de la ciutat. Es desconeix la data de la primera construcció, la primera menció és l'any 1310.
Un elegant exemple de porta de pilars, construïda l'any 1782 per substituir la porta més antiga. El nom prové de la presència de la carretera que es bifurcava d'aquí i conduïa a través del camp del nord fins a Carini .
L'aparició de la porta del segle XVIII seguia la moda de l'època: consta de dos pilars, decorats amb pilastres rústiques , coronats per una cornisa i tancats a la part superior per gerros de pedra.
