La primera menció escrita de la vila es remunta al 1326. Mentre els otomans ocupaven la major part d'Europa central, la regió al nord del llac Balaton quedà sota el domini del Regne d'Hongria . Fins al 1918 la vila formava part de l'Imperi Austríac.El sud de l'actual Eslovàquia quedà atribuït a Hongria després del primer arbitratge de Viena el 2 de novembre de 1938. Després de l'alliberament, la vila es reintegrà a la reconstituïda Txecoslovàquia.
