Kosovo o Kossove és un estat europeu als Balcans. Aquesta província autònoma de l’extinta Iugoslàvia dins Sèrbia, proclamà la seva independència d'aquesta darrera el 17 de febrer del 2008.
Després de la declaració unilateral d'independència, un centenar d'estats del món l'han reconeguda oficialment, així com la gran majoria d'estats de la Unió Europea. Entre els països que l'han reconegut hi ha Albània, el Regne Unit, Alemanya, França, els Països Baixos, Suïssa, Austràlia o els Estats Units. D'altres, però, s'hi oposen i no la reconeixen, com Sèrbia mateixa, Rússia, Grècia, Romania, Espanya, Argentina, el Brasil o Sud-àfrica. En total, Kosovo és reconegut per 111 dels 193 estats membres de l'ONU.
