Vinbyen Gottenheim ligger i Oberrheinischen Tiefebene ved nordspidsen af Tuniberg, mellem Freiburg im Breisgau og Kaiserstuhl.
Imidlertid er bosættelsen Siedlung blevet en del af kommunen. Det drejer sig om en lille samling af enfamiliehuse, der blev bygget i slutningen af 1930'erne. Den smeltede sammen med kernebyen på grund af Gottenheims udvidelse i efterkrigstiden, hvilket især byggeområdet Au bidrog til.
