Rinteln er en by og selvstændig kommune i Weserbergland ved Weser i Schaumburg kommune i Niedersachsen. Den velbevarede gamle bydel er også i dag præget af talrige værdifulde bindingsværkshuse. I middelalderen var bymuren en del af byen, hvis udvidelse i den nyere tid gjorde byen til fæstningen Rinteln. Fra 1619 til 1810 var Rinteln desuden universitetsby. Rinteln var indtil 1977 amtshovedstad, først indtil 1904 i Rinteln amt, siden 1904 i Grafschaft Schaumburg amt.
