Som spøgelseshus Hohensyburg blev en tom og delvist ødelagt boligbetegnelse, der lå nær ruinen af Hohensyburg og lige ved Syburg på en stor grund. Bygningen, der stammer fra 1800-tallet, havde været ubeboet siden slutningen af 1970'erne, forfaldt over tid og blev til sidst revet ned i 2009. Det blev især anset som "et af de mest kendte spøgelses- og spøgelseshuse i Nordrhein-Westfalen eller Tyskland" i internetfora i 1990'erne og 2000'erne, og blev ofte, især også på Halloween, besøgt af unge og unge voksne som "et skræmmende og kultsted" til ulovlige natlige sammenkomster.
