Floden Dinkel er en 89 km lang biflod til Vechte, der løber fra Tyskland til Nederlandene og derefter tilbage til Tyskland. Den er ikke identisk med bækken Dinkel i Landkreis Vechta, efter hvilket byen Dinklage er opkaldt. Dinkel udspringer i Nordrhein-Westfalen i det vestlige Münsterland i Kreis Coesfeld mellem Ahaus og Coesfeld i kommunen Rosendahl. Her ligger dens kilde i bydelen Holtwick, 2 km syd for landsbyens centrum.
