Byen Protzen er en stadsdel i kommunen Fehrbellin med omkring 500 indbyggere. Den ligger ved nordkysten af Rhinluches, syd for Ruppiner Plattform. Øst for byen løber A 24. Denne kan nås via afkørsel Neuruppin-Süd, som ligger cirka fire kilometer væk.
Protzen er en ve landsby af slavisk oprindelse og blev første gang omtalt som sogn i 1324. Byens navn menes at stamme fra det slaviske, fra "sted hvor hirse gror". Landsbyen med sin markstenkirke ligger på pilgrimsruten fra Berlin til Wilsnack. Omkring 1490 var Protzen en del af den i sin essens kejserligt uafhængige herrskab Ruppin under greberne af Lindow-Ruppin.
