Kirken landsbyen ligger på østskråningen af Illerdalen, ca. 2 km nord for Illertissen. I øst ligger den gamle bydel, og mod vest følger bebyggelsesområderne, delvist lidt adskilt. Schwärzlegraben og Krautgartengraben udspringer i eller nær byen og forbindes nordligt til Mauchegraben.
Betlinshausen var allerede i senmiddelalderen et populært pilgrimssted. Kirken St. Johannes Døber med sine kuppeltræer stammer fra barokken.
