Vasto er en kommune ved Adriaterhavskysten i provinsen Chieti, i det sydlige Abruzzo, Italien. I middelalderen blev den kaldt dGuastaymonis, Vasto d'Aimone eller Waste d'Aimone. Fascistiske Italien kaldte byen Istonio, men den blev omdøbt til Vasto i 1944.
Ifølge traditionen blev byen grundlagt af Diomedes, den græske helt. De tidligste arkæologiske levn dateres til 1300 f.Kr. Histonium var en af de nøgletown i Frentani, beliggende ved Adriaterhavskysten, cirka 9 kilometer syd for det udspringspunkter, der kaldes Punta Penna.
