Laa an der Thaya ist eine Stadt mit 6247 Einwohnern im nördlichen Weinviertel in Niederösterreich, unmittelbar an der Grenze zu Tschechien gelegen.Laa liegt im Norden des Weinviertels in Niederösterreich und hat sich zum Zentrum des oberen Weinviertels entwickelt. Die Fläche der Stadtgemeinde umfasst 72,89 km². 2,87 % der Fläche sind bewaldet. Laa liegt in der Nähe der im 19. Jahrhundert regulierten Thaya und wird dadurch nicht direkt von ihr durchflossen. Lediglich der künstlich angelegte Thayamühlbach-Kanal durchquert die Stadt.
