Jeden Sonntag nach Pfingsten findet in Ronse die Fiertel statt, bei der der heilige Hermes verehrt wird. Der Name "Fiertel" stammt von Feretrum, was Schrein bedeutet. Auf dieser 33 km langen Strecke werden die Reliquien des St. Hermes herumgetragen. Dieser Heilige wird gegen Kopfschmerzen, Neurasthenie, Wutausbrüche und Epilepsie verehrt.
Das Kloster von Ronse erhielt bereits im Jahr 860 die Relikte dieses römischen Heiligen. Bei einem Überfall der Normannen im Jahr 880 konnten diese Reliquien gerettet werden, indem sie aus dem Kloster verschwunden gemacht wurden.
