Mons ist die Hauptstadt der wallonischen Provinz Hennegau in Belgien. Die mehrheitlich frankophone Stadt ist seit dem 31. März 1967 Sitz des Militärischen Hauptquartiers der NATO, SHAPE.Der Name der Stadt bedeutet lateinisch Berg , was auf die geografische Situation der Stadt schließen lässt.
