Im Jahr 1838 ließ der lokale Abt eine Statue von St. Antonius aufstellen, nach der der Baum zu einem lokalen Wallfahrtsort für die Bauern der Gegend wurde. Hier baten sie um Heilung für ihre Schweine und nahmen Eicheln als Futter für die Ferkel mit. Die Zweige der vollen Krone des Baumes sind übrigens im Herbst immer noch schwer mit Eicheln beladen.
