Nürensdorf umfasst die Ortsteile Birchwil, Oberwil und Breite sowie die Weiler Breitenloo, Hakab und Kleinhaus. Es grenzt an die Orte Bassersdorf, Kloten, Oberembrach, Brütten und Lindau. Das Schulangebot umfasst Kindergärten, zwei Primar- und Oberstufen.
Das Wappen ist angelehnt an jenes der Familie Hess, welche für lange Zeit die Gerichtsherrschaft in Nürensdorf stellte.
