Bellinzona (italienisch: Bellinzona, französisch Bellence, deutsch Bellenz, lateinisch Bilitio) ist die Hauptstadt des Kantons Tessin in der Schweiz.
Die Gemeinde liegt auf einer Höhe von 238 Metern, hat 17.286 Einwohner (Dez. 2004) und umfasst 1984 Hektar (19,84 km¦).
Die Stadt liegt östlich des Flusses Ticino, der dem Kanton seinen Namen gab. Die Stadt Bellinzona ist ein Verkehrszentrum, von dem aus die Alpenpässe Sankt Gotthard, Lukmanier, San Bernardino und Nufenen erreicht werden können.
Im Jahr 1475 wurde die Stadt zum ersten Mal in einer Urkunde des Herzogs von Mailand literarisch erwähnt.
Zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten gehören unter anderem die drei Schlösser der Stadt, die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehören. Es gibt einige Museen und Kirchen.
