Cova ist eine vulkanische Caldera im östlichen zentralen Teil der Insel Santo Antão in Kap Verde. Sie befindet sich am südwestlichen Ende der Gemeinde Paul. Ihr tiefster Punkt liegt bei 1.166 Metern, und der höchste Punkt des Kraterrands beträgt etwa 1.500 m. Der Durchmesser der Caldera beträgt etwa 1,0 km. Sie ist Teil des Cova-Paul-Ribeira da Torre Naturparks.[2] Die Cova-Formation stammt aus der Zeit zwischen 1,4 Millionen und 700.000 Jahren.[3]
Der Cova-Krater profitiert von hohen Niederschlagswerten, die durch Passatwinde gebracht werden. Am Boden der Caldera werden Mais und Bohnen angebaut. Natürliche und semi-natürliche Vegetation bedeckt die Kraterwände, die nach Norden und Nordosten ausgerichtet sind. Die nach Süden ausgerichteten Wände sind mit einem Wald aus Pinus und Cupressus Arten bewachsen.[4] Im Krater gibt es ein kleines Dorf (Bevölkerung 10 bei der Volkszählung 2010),[5] das Teil der Siedlung Cabo da Ribeira ist.
