Krummhörn ist eine Gemeinde im Landkreis Aurich in der Region Ostfriesland in Niedersachsen. Umgangssprachlich wird die Gemeinde mit Artikel die Krummhörn genannt.
Landläufig wird der gesamte Landstrich südwestlich einer gedachten Linie Greetsiel–Emden als die Krummhörn bezeichnet – also das Gebiet der heutigen Kommunen Krummhörn, Hinte und Emden. Die Bezeichnung stammt aus dem Niederdeutschen und bedeutet so viel wie krumme Ecke – ein Blick auf die Landkarte verdeutlicht das: Der südwestliche Zipfel der ostfriesischen Halbinsel ragt einer Nase ähnlich nach Südwesten in die Außenems hinein. In der Vergangenheit war diese Gegend von mehreren, tief ins Land eindringenden Buchten gesäumt, so dass sich verwinkelte Landstriche ergaben.
