Sankt Goar ist eine Stadt im Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis in Rheinland-Pfalz am linken Ufer des Mittelrheins. Sie gehört der Verbandsgemeinde Hunsrück-Mittelrhein an.
Bekannt ist Sankt Goar durch seine zentrale Lage im UNESCO-Welterbe Oberes Mittelrheintal, das im Juli 2002 in die Liste der Welterbestätten aufgenommen wurde. Oberhalb der Stadt befindet sich die Ruine Burg Rheinfels, gegenüber liegt die Schwesterstadt Sankt Goarshausen mit den Burgen Katz und Maus. Der Loreleyfelsen befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe der Stadt flussaufwärts auf der anderen Rheinseite.
