Hennef ist eine Stadt im Rhein-Sieg-Kreis in Nordrhein-Westfalen mit fast 100 Ortschaften am Fluss Sieg. Die Zahl der Ortsteile, die teils zu Ortschaften gruppiert sind, liegt noch höher. Daher trägt Hennef auch den Beinamen „Stadt der 100 Dörfer“.
Hennef liegt zwischen Bergischem Land und Westerwald am Anfang des Mündungstals der Sieg, etwa 30 km Luftlinie südöstlich von Köln und 14 km Luftlinie in ost-nordöstlicher Richtung von Bonn aus. Der höchste Punkt des Stadtgebietes wird mit gut 285 m ü. NHN am Rande des Ortsteils Eichholz erreicht, der niedrigste mit knapp 60 m ü. NHN an der Sieg beim Ortsteil Stoßdorf.
