Die uvex Winter Holding GmbH & Co. KG ist ein international tätiges deutsches Unternehmen mit den Gesellschaften uvex safety group, uvex sports group und Filtral group. Die Firma produziert und vertreibt Schutz- und Sicherheitsprodukte im Berufs-, Sport- und Freizeitbereich. Sie betreibt 48 Tochterfirmen in 22 Ländern und produziert vorwiegend in Deutschland, wo 70 % der insgesamt 2.630 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt sind.
1926 gründete Philipp M. Winter die Optische-Industrie-Anstalt Philipp M. Winter in Fürth-Poppenreuth und handelte zunächst mit Schutzbrillen jeglicher Art. 1936 zog das Unternehmen in den Stammsitz in der Fürther Innenstadt um. 1962 wurde die Firma in Winter Gesellschaft für Optik und Augenschutz umgewandelt, und Winters Sohn, Rainer Winter, übernahm die Geschäftsführung. Er erfand auch den Markennamen uvex, ein Akronym für „ultraviolet excluded“, gemäß dem Sonnenbrillen-Merkmal UV-Schutz.
