Eu [ø] ist eine französische Stadt mit 6716 Einwohnern im Département Seine-Maritime in der Region Normandie. Eu ist die nördlichste Gemeinde des Départements Seine-Maritime. Sie liegt an der Bresle, fünf Kilometer vor deren Mündung in den Ärmelkanal bei Le Tréport.Der Fluss Bresle hieß im Mittelalter Ou, später Eu. Der mittelalterliche Chronist Ordericus Vitalis schreibt: «Aucum flumen quod vulgo dicitur Ou» – . Andere frühmittelalterliche Spielarten des Namens waren Auvae, Aucia oder Auga. Daraus wurde dann das heutige Eu. Der Ursprung liegt wohl im germanischen „awa“ , ähnlich dem lateinischen „aqua“ und dem deutschen „Au“.
