Das Gefecht bei Saint-Dizier fand statt am 26. März 1814 während des Winterfeldzuges der Befreiungskriege zwischen französischen Truppen unter Napoleons persönlicher Führung und russischer Kavallerie der Schlesischen Armee unter Ferdinand von Wintzingerode.
Ins Gefecht kamen fast ausschließlich Reiter, etwa 18.000 an der Zahl. Marschall MacDonald schwärmte von dem Gesehenen in seinen Memoiren:
