Desford ist ein Dorf und eine Bürgergemeinde im Bezirk Hinckley und Bosworth, 7 Meilen westlich des Zentrums von Leicester und etwa 7 Meilen nordöstlich von Hinckley. Auf einem Hügel gelegen, der etwa 400 Fuß über dem Meeresspiegel liegt, umfasst die Gemeinde die Weiler Botcheston und Newtown Unthank sowie eine verstreute Ansiedlung in Lindridge. Die Bevölkerung hatte bei der Volkszählung 2011 3.930 erreicht. Desford ist im Domesday Book von 1086 verzeichnet, aber der Name selbst ist älter und bedeutet Deor's Ford, was auf einen angelsächsischen Ursprung hinweist. Eine andere Erklärung besagt, dass es 'eine Furt, die von wilden Tieren frequentiert wird' bedeutet.
