Das Macellum von Pompeji befand sich am Forum und war als Lebensmittel-Markthalle der antiken Stadt ein zentraler Ort Pompejis. Das Gebäude wurde in mehreren Bauphasen errichtet. Beim Erdbeben 62 n. Chr., das Pompeji in weiten Teilen zerstörte, wurde auch das Macellum in Mitleidenschaft gezogen. Bei den modernen Ausgrabungen fanden die Forscher ein Gebäude vor, das noch nicht wieder völlig instand gesetzt worden war.
