Das Dorf Langeaar wird von der römisch-katholischen St. Adrianus Kirche (1902) dominiert. Langeaar lag früher dort, wo jetzt Ter Aar ist, wurde aber im Januar 1788 nach einem Dammbruch beim Braassemermeer verwüstet. Das Dorf wurde an der heutigen Stelle neu aufgebaut. Später wurde an der Stelle des alten Langeaar doch wieder ein Dorf errichtet, das den Namen Ter Aar bekam.
