In Montferland wurden viele, manchmal große Findlinge gefunden. Diese kamen während der vorletzten Eiszeit (Saalien, vor ca. 238.000 – 126.000.000 Jahren) aus Skandinavien mit dem Gletschereis mit. In Stokkum wurde ein großer Stein (Berghse Kei) ausgegraben, der jetzt am Eingang des Schlosses in ’s‑Heerenberg zu sehen ist, in Hoch-Elten steht ein ‘Findling’ und auch auf dem Gelände von ’t Peeske bei Beek steht einer auf.
Der Stein, der hier an der T-Kreuzung liegt, scheint versetzt worden zu sein, um diese Kreuzung zu markieren.
