Auf den Veranden, die zum Platz St. Tiago mit dem Llarg da Oliveira ist das Alte Rathaus.
Dieses Gebäude beherbergte die Männer, die die Stadt regierten. Der Bau begann im 14. Jahrhundert und dauerte bis zur Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts, als D. Afonso V. regierte. Zwischen dem 16. und 18. Jahrhundert wurde das Gebäude mehrfach umgebaut und renoviert. Später, im Jahr 1877, wurde an der Fassade eine Kriegerstatue aus dem alten Zollgebäude aufgestellt. Der Überlieferung nach symbolisiert dieser Krieger den doppelten Beitrag des Volkes von Guimarães zur Eroberung Afrikas.
