Es ist bemerkenswert, dass der Heilige Johannes das Evangelium in seinen Händen hält , ein Symbol für das Buch, das er geschrieben hat.
Am Fuß der Statue steht die lateinische Botschaft: „IN PRINCIPE ERAT VERBUM A VERBUM ERAT APUD DEUM, ET GOD ERAT VERBUM“, übersetzt: „ Im Anfang war das Wort, und das Wort war bei Gott, und Gott war das Wort .“
Unter der Inschrift ist der Kopf eines Adlers zu sehen, der Wasser durch seinen Schnabel spritzt.
