Der John F. Kennedy International Airport ist vor Newark und LaGuardia der größte Verkehrsflughafen im Großraum New York. Der von der Port Authority of New York and New Jersey betriebene Flughafen dient als Drehkreuz für American Airlines, Delta Air Lines und JetBlue Airways. Im Jahr 2018 wurden 61,6 Millionen Passagiere befördert, damit ist JFK der sechstgrößte Flughafen der USA und liegt im weltweiten Vergleich der Flughäfen auf Rang 22.
Der John F. Kennedy International Airport liegt 24 km östlich von Manhattan im Stadtteil Jamaica des Stadtbezirks Queens an der Jamaica Bay. Die Passagierterminals werden durch die Interstate 678, welche an dieser Stelle auch als Van Wyck Expressway bezeichnet wird, und den JFK Expressway mit dem Belt Parkway und den New York State Routes 27 und 878 verbunden, welche nördlich des Flughafens verlaufen.
