Lens-Saint-Servais is a district of the municipality of Geer, in the province of Liège in the Walloon Region of Belgium. Until 1977, it was an independent municipality.
Nestor Bayot is from Lens-Saint-Servais. Nestor Bayot was a stable boy who explored the woods of Lichtaart with the First Guides Regiment of the Belgian army on August 20, 1914. The soldier fell into an ambush set by German uhlans. A first German bullet brought him down and his horse fled away, a second bullet meant his death. He was initially buried in Lichtaart; after the war, his body was transferred to his hometown. At the place where he fell, a mourning chapel was initially erected, which later evolved into the ‘hofke van Bayot’.
