Historical route between Alden Biesen and Tongeren

For centuries, Haspengouw was a sought-after bride for warlords and nobility. Now that the reverence for both has faded, anyone can taste the land and its history. It is hard to say how old the awareness is that one can live well in Haspengouw. In any case, the Celts had already settled there comfortably. When the Romans thought to gobble up this delicious piece, Ambiorix stood in their way. Later, the Merovingians found a home here, although they left few traces. The rule of the land of Loon did not go unnoticed. The Teutonic Order also saw something in Haspengouw and left us the impressive Alden Biesen; a suitable starting point for a journey into the land of Ambiorix.

Fairly safe route, but please pay attention to the traffic around Alden Biesen and in the city center of Tongeren. 40% traffic-free.
