AzureBeautiful walk around Lake Schulen. This walk is made using virtual nodes that can be found on the site of www.wandelknooppunt.be As mentioned, the nodes are virtual. So they can't be found in reality. The advantage is that you are sure that there is a hiking trail and that you do not end up on private property. Keep in mind that it can be quite busy around the lake during the weekend.

For those who would like to know more about the Schulensmeer;
Schulensmeer was created in the 1970s. A sand extraction site was then sought for the construction of the E314 motorway between Lummen and Aarschot. At that time, a waiting basin was also planned in the Schulensbroek for better control of the Demer. By extracting the sand at the place where the waiting basin was provided, agricultural land had to be sacrificed in only one place.
The Schulensmeer is named after the church village Schulen that lies on the road between Hasselt and Diest.
