Description by the author

A walk through the marvelaous high valleys of Bargis and the Aua da Mulins river and its tributaries. The walk starts at the bus stop at the entry of Bargis at 1550m. The bus coming in from Fidaz Waldrand is about the only motorised acces in and out of Bargis. Hence, make sure to verify the timetable of the bus for the return trip, if not an additional 3km is needed to get to Fidaz from where there are late busses. The walk takes you rapidly up via a series of steep thresholds to valleys higher up. In various locations rapids and waterfalls can be seen. While climbing one gets closer and closer to the impressive Piz Dolf / Trinserhorn (3028m) dominating the valley. After 7.8km and at an elevation of about 2400m the path becomes much less steep and follows the slopes at the foot of Piz Dolf until one reaches Fuorcla Roschaglius (km 9.6) at an elevation of 2554m. The view from the pass to the north and on Piz Segnas (3098m) among others is spectacular. This is one of the better locations to admire and apreciate the inversion of the geological layers in this UNESCO heritage site with older rock on top of younger limestone layers, separated by an explicit, nearly horizontal dividing line. From the pass it is only half a kilometer to the nearly flat top of Fil the Cassons (2668m). From here the walk follows the crest with spectacular views down in the valley and on the path taken while climbing up. Piz Dolf is dominating the views even more. The path will initially go up slightly to the highest point of the walk at 2694m (km 12). Next the descent will begin, walking over Mutta Bella (2406m) where Edelweiss can be seen among many other plant species. Once in Tegia Gronda at an elevation of 2000m a steep path paved with rocks will take you down to Bargis and the bus stop. After a long day, these last two kilometers are very hard on the knees and body, hence, be sure to have enough time to do it.
