The district town of Coesfeld in the Münsterland region is also located on a historic Camino de Santiago. With its two Catholic churches, St. Jakobi Church and the parish church of St. Lamberti, one can find the Apostle James here in the old town center of Coesfeld, present twice. Furthermore, Coesfeld's noteworthy town center, surrounded by the promenade and the Berkel River, offers its special attractions, making a visit worthwhile for Jacob Pilgrims as well.
Not far from Coesfeld train station, one can quickly reach the pedestrian zone with Letter Street and the Kupferpassage and its many shops, making a stroll through the charming city center worthwhile. Right at the beginning of the city tour, one reaches the former Jacob Cemetery at Jakobiwall/Letter Street, now a memorial commemorating the fallen and victims of the NS regime in World War I and II. The Kunstverein Münsterland e.V. is also located here, welcoming visitors at Jakobiwall with contemporary art and bronze sculptures located on pillars.
