Dörenther Cliffs

A narrow path leads into the rocky landscape of the Dörenther Klippen. The highlight is the rock formation "Hockendes Weib," around which various legends gather. A beautiful mix of rugged rock formations, forests, and picturesque hills. Length: 9.3 km / 405 meters in elevation.

The Dörenther Rocks, one of the most well-known sights in the Münsterland, are the focus of the hike on the premium hiking trail near Ibbenbüren. The substantial hike is also a pleasure for ambitious hikers. The 9.3 kilometer circular route overcomes 405 meters in elevation.

The starting point is the hiking parking lot "Dörenther Klippen" at the Summer toboggan run in Ibbenbüren. It is immediately a quite steep ascent, with a beautiful mixed forest that provides refreshing shade. The marked hiking trail leads to the memorial cemetery, which commemorates the crossing of the Dörenther Klippen by the Allies during World War II.

A few meters further (at the resting mushroom), there is the option to shorten the hike to 5.8 kilometers. However, it is nicer to continue hiking in the beautiful Bocketal. Several restaurants are available here for a rest during your walk. The path leads you uphill to the Hermannsweg and thus also to the Dörenther Rocks. The protected region offers beautiful rock formations. The highlight is the "Hockendes Weib" – not far from the parking lot. But first, the mountain hut with a beautiful view invites you to take a break.
