Description: The beech forest Grumsin was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011 along with four other beech forests, making it one of the most important forest areas worldwide. While the core zone of the area is strictly protected, equally impressive areas of the forest can be discovered.
Length: 12 km, approx. 2.5 hours of pure walking time
Start/Finish: Information point Beech Forest Grumsin in Altkünkendorf
Route:
Along the edge of the World Heritage Site, passing beech trees, imposing gorges, moors, and forest lakes. Through Luisenhof and the city forest along Wolletzsee back to Altkünkendorf.
Marking: orange beech leaf
Arrival and Departure: Train to Angermünde station, then take bus 496 (World Heritage Bus), stop: Altkünkendorf, Mitte, (approx. 1.5 km to the forest)
