St. Martin's Church is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List. St. Martin's was the private chapel of Queen Bertha of Kent and dates back to the 6th century. It is therefore England's oldest parish church that has been in continuous use. The churchyard itself is also worth a visit as it is home to many notable people, including the English landscape painter Thomas Sidney Cooper and Mary Tourtel, who is the creator of the children's book character Rupert Bear.
