Here once stood a castle. The castle was initially called 'Huis Berch Eyck'. During the Eighty Years' War, it became one of the many fortifications around Den Bosch. Field Marshal Maurits took the castle at that time, but also lost it again to the Spaniards.
The castle of Bergeijk existed for a long time as a ruin. In the 19th century, the moats were filled in. For about a hundred years, there was nothing left visible of the castle on the ground. Until a few years ago, the outlines of the castle were marked again.
The air castle of Bergeijk is one of the locations on the cycling route 'The Dancing Cats of Bergeijk'.
