This 21-kilometer bike tour is dedicated to the peat canals around Etten-Leur and Sprundel.
After the Ice Age, the ice began to melt, and puddles formed in the landscape.
Over the years, layers of peat grew, which were later used as fuel in the Middle Ages.
Due to the high demand for raised bog peat, the peat industry emerged in the Netherlands.
To transport peat from the peat extraction areas to, among others, Bergen op Zoom, Roosendaal, Oudenbosch, and Breda, peat canals were dug.
These peat canals and traces of these former peat canals can still be found in the Brabant landscape.
