This hiking trail takes you through the National Landscape Area of Middag-Humsterland. Middag is a former peninsula that was part of the tidal landscape until the 12th century. During your hike through the area, you will find various traces there. Of course, the mounds of Ezinge and Feerwerd, which were inhabited before our era. But also the irregular pattern of fields, the dikes, and sluices are silent witnesses of the time when this land was reclaimed from the sea.
